From Airport to Yangon Best Western Chinatown Hotel by taxi
A taxi counter was located in front of the exit No. 6 of the airport. It cost 12,000 Kyat. It took around 2 hours because of traffic jam in the evening around 5 pm.
Yangon downtown and Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ)
Dr. Sasaki visited Thilawa SEZ and its International Port on September 5, 2019. A JICA expert and Japanese Embassy officer dispatched by Ports and Harbors Bureau of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) kindly arranged the trip. In the evening, we returned to Yangon downtown and enjoyed a short river cruise in Yangon River between the downtown and Dala, the opposite bank. Then we enjoyed a dinner party at a Myanmar Cuisine restaurant together with two expatriates.

Kyaukpyu and Wunbaik Reserved Mangrove Forest in Yambye Township
Dr. Sasaki moved from Yangon to Kyaukpyu on September 6 via Myanmar National Air: UB451 RGN/KYP 11:00/12:50 and UB452 KYP/RGN 15:00/16:50.
On September 7, hiring a van with driver from the hotel (100,000 Kyat) and visited Wunbaik Reserved Mangrove Forest in Yambye Township. The reserve was administrated by a current student before enrolling in UTokyo who is an officer in Forest Department. Our research target is natural recovery processes from abandoned shrimp pond to mangrove forest comparing with human intervened restored forest and original natural forest. This field trip was supported by Yambye Township Office of Forest Department, providing a boat and officers to introduce us.
